Six Questions for Brett Firdman, New Account Director at SPCFuel

Welcome to the SPC Family, Brett Firdman!

For the past 15 years, Brett has developed a well-rounded skill set as a marketing leader and strategist. Brett is bringing experience in direct mail, digital and social media channels to provide clients with an integrated strategic perspective. Based out of Laguna Beach, California, Brett comes to SPCFuel from Amplified Digital Agency where she was a Senior Digital Enterprise Executive. We are excited to add her expertise and forward-thinking to the team.

We asked Brett six questions to help you get to know her.   

What piqued your interest in joining SPC?

Having a 15+ year combined history in print, direct marketing, and agency services turns out to be a unique (and specific) skill set. In past roles, I’d often be honing in on one part of the tools in my toolkit more than the others.  SPC is finally a place to call home where all of those competencies converge, which is so exciting. I love being part of a growing team at SPCFuel, providing support to print customers and expanding our role with marketing services, creative storytelling, and digital expertise. 

How did you get started in Marketing Sales?

I started working right out of college with Chicago’s own Tribune Company, working initially for their direct mail division, Tribune Direct. Staying there for over a decade, I climbed the ranks and wore many hats, eventually becoming the lead sales consultant liaising with clients in retail, sports, grocery, automotive and more. Several of my Tribune Direct colleagues are with SPC today, so it’s fun to see so many familiar faces again. Eventually, Tribune Direct spun off an independent business unit, a conversion and marketing services agency, Conversion Alliance, which was exciting to help launch.

What are some strengths you bring to your new role?

I love seeing clients win and take a client-first approach to almost all aspects of my role. I love unconventional thinking and finding ways to individualize our company and team for each client so that our solutions look and feel truly different from the competitor.

What do you like most about your job?

I love interfacing with clients, making them feel heard and bringing a solution to the table that feels like exactly what they needed. I find a ton of personal fulfillment from getting the job right and innovating strong solutions that fill holes and make things work better or yield stronger results. No two projects are ever the same and I love that about working in marketing services.

What are some of your outside interests?

Living in Laguna Beach now, after 15+ years in Chicago, we’ve embraced our new roles as ambassadors of the outdoors in our family. We love taking our two little boys, Blake and Eli, to the beach for hikes in our neighborhood, driving out to the desert, gardening in our backyard, and just anything in the fresh air and sunshine.

What is the best piece of business advice you have ever received?

Keep your word and do what you say you’ll do.

My dad, who was a serial entrepreneur, drilled this into me from day one. Sticking to your word and being a person with integrity will always come back tenfold, both in life and in business. It’s a small world out there, even more so in a niche industry, and being trustworthy and reliable will always serve you well.
