The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced the new 2021 postage rates, and the increases are as anticipated.
The new rates are set to take effect on January 24, 2021, and the average increase will be 1.46%. The rates for many categories of mail will remain unchanged. The USPS continues to offer many opportunities for discounts.
Of further note, the 2021 postage rates continue the trend of lessening the savings for mail entered into Sectional Center Facilities (SCF). For Marketing Mail Auto Commercial Letters the discount for SCF entered mail versus NDC entered mail lowered from $.006 to $.004 per piece.
Key points of the rate increase:
- For SCF entered 5-Digit Automated Marketing Letters, the increase is from $.233 to $.235.
- For SCF entered 5-Digit Automated Marketing Flats weighing less than 4 oz., the increase is from $.364 to $.372 per piece.
- The rate for one-ounce stamped letters will remain unchanged at $.55 while one-ounce metered letters will increase from $.50 to $.510, respectively and first class domestic postcards will increase to $.36.
