New Opportunity to Save on Postage!
Starting in 2025, the USPS will introduce new “add-ons” available for any mail piece that participates in other qualified USPS promotions, giving the mailer an extra, stackable, 1% discount per Add-On. These promotions run the full calendar year. First-Class Mail automation letters, cards, and flats and USPS Marketing Mail automation letters and flats that meet a promotion’s requirements are eligible.
Add-Ons can be layered on an existing promotion to increase the overall discount. Add-Ons can’t be claimed alone, they must be accompanied by a promotion. Mailers can combine both Add-Ons for an additional 2% discount on top of another promotion, and this offer is available year-round.
Informed Delivery will be an Add-On incentive. There will not be a separate stand-alone Informed Delivery promotion in 2025. The Add-On offers an additional 1% discount for mailings that incorporate best practices and techniques in their Informed Delivery campaigns. For this blog, we will concentrate on the Sustainability Add-On and how you can qualify.
The New Sustainability Add-On
This Add-On encourages mailers to adopt a higher level of recyclable paper in their mailings by offering an additional 1% discount to mailers who demonstrate the paper used in their mailings is responsibly sourced and sustainably produced by exhibiting an eligible certification. The USPS will accept Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certifications. Others such as Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and PrintReleaf can be submitted for consideration/review.
SPC is already equipped with certifications. Multiple sustainable options are ready for immediate use. Reach out to your SPC Sales Rep or Ryan LeFebvre to get a breakdown of specific paper mills and the paper offered.
By participating in the Sustainability Add-On/Upgrade Promotion, mailers can not only benefit from additional discounts but also contribute to broader environmental objectives by incorporating certified sustainable paper products. SPC is proud to incorporate certified products and supplies as well as required responsible practices throughout our facilities. SPC is one of a limited number of printers that are tri-certified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). Be on the lookout for our upcoming blog that explains each of these certifications and how they differ from each other.
Reach out to your SPC representative to explore how you can take advantage of this initiative and play a part in creating a more sustainable mailing industry.
